Professorship (W2) Bioinformatics in Cardiovascular Disease
The W2 Professorship is funded by the German Center for Cardiovascular Research (DZHK) – the largest research institution for cardiovascular diseases in Germany. Founded in 2011 as one of six German Centers of Health Research (DZG), the DZHK focuses on translating new approaches in cardiovascular research into clinical practice in order to improve the diagnosis, prevention and treatment of cardiovascular diseases. TheDZHK unites excellent basic researchers and clinical researchers from seven partner sites in Germany. The successful candidate will become “DZHK-Professor” and Principal Investigator of the DZHK(http://dzhk.de/1/research/dzhk-professuren/). The Professorship is embedded in the vascular research centre of Goethe-University. The position is also to be associated with the faculty of Informatics. The successful candidate should have a strong track record of original and productive research in the area of Bioinformatics Data Analysis. He/she is expected to synergize with existing research areas such as regulatory RNAs (e.g. categorization of lncRNA functions, RNA structure to function) or systems biology/medicine (e.g. integration of data). Specific expertise in cardiovascular biology would be advantageous but not a prerequisite. In addition, experience in teaching and management of an own working group as well as successful external funding and an excellent international publication record are required. The position will be accompanied with a start-up package, basic funding, sufficient space and access to the infrastructure of the Institute of Cardiovascular Regeneration and to the IT-infrastructure of the cardiovascular scientific research focus. Prerequisites for the application are a university degree, teaching ability, doctorate, scientific achievements as a junior professor or habilitation or comparable scientific achievements at a non-university institution and significant teaching experience.
