Expertise Marketing Education Masters Job Type Full-time Location United States - California - San Jose Job Level Manager Posting date: September 10, 2014 Job description You are joining the market leader in mass spectrometry-driven proteomics and work on one of the most vibrant and rapidly evolving fields in computational biology that seeks to integrate data streams and biological knowledge from several areas of omics research. As the product manager for a highly regarded protein annotation product, you will work closely with an international team of developers to maintain and expand the current product. The product today bridges the gap between MS/MS database search engines and publications and supports well over 1000 customers world-wide. Basic Function and Scope of Position: Your primary responsibility focuses on the expansion of the current user base in order to grow the product’s revenue. As the product owner that serves multiple stakeholders and markets, you drive the definition and prioritization of new product features and the introduction of novel and enabling capabilities on a regular schedule. You are also responsible for the management of the product through its entire life cycle. Your experience in bioinformatics or related field is the key driving force to evolve the current product and create high value solutions for our customers in the field of mass spectrometric data analysis and results interpretation. Task and Responsibilities

  • Develop product strategy
  • Prepare and implement new product/service launches
  • Work with R&D to build product/service roadmap and requirements/specifications, especially for pipeline, annotation and reporting tools
  • Identify unmet customer needs and support development of short and long-range strategies for product expansion
  • Build and maintain relationships with key customers and key opinion leaders
  • Collaborate with marketing communications to develop product messaging and sales collateral
  • Perform market segmentations analysis, competitor analysis, and provide pricing input
  • Train and support the field organization to ensure accomplishment of the annual revenue plan
Preferred Experiential Background:
  • You must have minimum of 2+ years of industrial experience in a product development or a product marketing position including general experience in Life Sciences, Proteomics, Genomics or the Pharmaceutical industry.
  • A formal education with a Masters or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Physics or related field is required.
  • Experience in adjacent fields of Big Data, Statistics, Genomics, Metabolomics and other areas of Computational Biology in your education or current job responsibility is highly desired.
Detailed Education/Experience
  • M.S. in life science, advanced degree (Ph.D. or M.B.A.) is a plus
  • Minimum 2 years of product marketing or product development experience required
  • 5+ total years of life science, clinical or healthcare experience
  • Excellent knowledge of the life sciences market in general and proteomics specifically
  • Deep understanding of bioinformatics related to proteome and metabolome analysis
  • Track record of successful product/service launch involvement
  • Strong analytical skills
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to build and present a strong business case
  • Ability to work successfully in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
  • Excellent interpersonal and organizational skills
  • Willing to travel domestically and internationally up to 25%
  • This position is based in San Jose, CA
