Job Duties:

The Programmer/Analyst will provide technical and operational support for the design, development, implementation, and maintenance of mobile health technologies being developed by the UCLA Depression Grand Challenge research initiative. Duties include implementing mobile health technology development, supervising team who assist with mobile health technology development, interfacing with Operational core to design and implement tools in support of clinical research needs, interfacing with Bioinformatics core to implement tools, and interface with external collaborators and research community on technology adoption.

Duties Include:

  • Consult with DGC researchers on research requirements and workflows
  • Coordinate with Bioinformatics core on development of software tools to facilitate clinical and research programs
  • Coordinate with UCLA Health System and DGIT on implementation of servers, information security reviews, and web application hosting
  • Manage mobile health monitoring components, including development and deployment of mobile application software, data management, quality assurance, and algorithm development
  • Interface with external collaborators and research community on technology adoption
  • Train research staff on deployment, quality assurance, and data monitoring protocols; respond to technical issues encountered by research participants
Job Qualifications:
  • MySQL, PHP, Java, R, Perl, HTML, shell scripting
  • Ruby on Rails, Python, XML, CSS, C++, ASP, XHTML, CGI, XML
  • In depth working knowledge of desktop and server technology, client/server development and full life cycle system development methodology.
  • Detailed working knowledge of object oriented programming environment and previous experience in implementing in a web environment using MySQL and PHP.
  • Detailed working knowledge of relational databases and database management techniques.
  • Demonstrated skill in web-based application security and web administration.
  • B.S. Degree in Computer Science or related technical discipline preferred
  • 3+ years of programming experience
  • Experience in biological setting
  • Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
  • Ability to function both independently and as an effective member of a data-management team.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and meet multiple project deadlines in a timely manner
  • Demonstrated experience maintaining content for and/or hosting websites in research environment.
  • Ability to work well with others, including a diverse group of university researchers.
