Job Description:
The primary responsibility of this position will be to develop web-based spatial tools with Java, and to modify/improve the graphical user interface of an existing Java program, based on input from biologists, to make it more responsive, discoverable, and attractive.

Skills and qualifications include programming skills in Java, Jave EE, Javascript and other computer languages, experience with MS SQL databases and Apache Tomcat 7 server software, ability to create attractive, desktop/mobile adaptable, and maintainable graphical user interfaces, ability to speak and understand English and some knowledge of biology or bioinformatics. Candidate should be familiar with version control systems, development methodologies such as agile, online collaboration tools such as slack or hipchat. In addition, candidate should be able to work on remote systems via a secure shell, have experience with data visualization, be familiar with GNU/Linux or other UNIX-like operating systems, and have experience with documentation systems.

The ideal candidate would have experience developing web-based mapping/GIS tools or simulation video games, preferably those that are map based.
