Job Description:
As a Data Scientist on the Housing Analysis and Research team at Freddie Mac, you will apply statistical and machine learning techniques to build tools that will be used to make decisions about the underwriting and servicing of mortgages in Freddie Mac. You will make efficient use of distributed computing technologies to keep those tools sharp with the latest structured and unstructured big data available.

Responsibilities

 Use techniques from statistics, machine learning, and other data sciences to estimate predictive models from numeric, categorical, textual, geographic, and other data features
 Write programs to clean and analyze large volumes of structured and unstructured data
 Present research results to both technical and non-technical audiences
 Write model documentation and research reports
 Visualize data to communicate complex ideas

Advanced degree (PhD, Masters) in a quantitative discipline (data science, statistics, computer science, economics/econometrics, applied mathematics, operational research, physics, bioinformatics, engineering, etc.) or a Bachelors degree with equivalent experience Strong communication skills Experience using Linux and/or Unix Experience using Hadoop and related technologies (Spark, Hive, etc.) Experience querying relational databases via SQL Experience querying relational databases via SQL Today, Freddie Mac makes home possible for one in four home borrowers and is one of the largest sources of financing for multifamily housing.
