Research Assistant University College London - UCL Division of Surgery and Interventional Science Location: London Salary: £29,193 to £30,783 Per annum, depending on skills and experience, inclusive of London Allowance Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Permanent Placed on: 25th February 2015 Closes: 17th March 2015 Job Ref: 1451284
UCL’s Division of Surgery and Interventional science houses a prestigious team of clinicians who conduct research into novel imaging and diagnostic tests for various cancers as well as evaluating minimally-invasive therapies.
The postholder would be required to work closely with the inventors of “tumouroids” to run this project, “Patient-specific 'tumouroids' to optimise response to cancer treatments”. The purpose of this research is the development of testing platforms for individual patients to determine responders and non-responders to specific treatments (personalized medicine). This project is funded by National Institute of Health Research-Invention for Innovation (NIHR i4i) grant. It is being conducted in collaboration with the Division of Surgery Clinical Trials Group, UCL’s Translational Research Office, and several clinical departments, at Royal Free Hospital, The School of Pharmacy and the Institute of Cancer Research.
This post is initially funded until 30 June 2017.
The postholder should have a BSc or MSc in an appropriate science degree or have substantial relevant experience. Experience of in-vitro cell culture, microscopy, including confocal and in routine molecular biology are all essential. The postholder must have a research aptitude and experience in areas related to the topic of research work. They must have the ability to work under pressure, to tight deadlines and be able to prioritise their work. The successful candidate will be able to liaise with staff and students at all levels effectively.
