Research Assistant University College London - UCL Institute of Child Health; GGM Location: London Salary: £29,193 to £30,783 Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Contract / Temporary Placed on: 22nd June 2015 Closes: 3rd July 2015 Job Ref: 1467684
The appointment will be on UCL Grade 6. The salary range will be £29,193 - £30,783 per annum depending on skills and experience, inclusive of London Allowance.
Applications are invited for a Research Technician in the Genetics and Genomic Medicine Programme, UCL Institute of Child Health, to join a research group investigating the neuro-molecular basis of cognitive impairment in the rare genetic condition, Bardet-Biedl syndrome. The post holder will have a key role in our Biological Services Unit, primary neuron tissue culture, and iPSCs cell maintenance.
The post is available from 1st September 2015 and is funded for 2 years in the first instance by a grant from the New Life Foundation.
The postholder must have a degree in a relevant subject area and additional training relevant to neuro scientific procedures is essential.
Experience in murine husbandry, primary neuron culturing, and tissue processing and neurohistochemistry are all essential.
Excellent interpersonal, oral and written communication skills are essential, as is the ability to plan and execute experiments to a high standard.
