Research Assistant in Large-scale Continuous Data Extraction (VADA) University of Oxford - Department of Computer Science Location: Oxford Salary: £30,434 to £37,394 Grade 7,p.a. Hours: Full Time Contract Type: Contract / Temporary Placed on: 16th July 2015 Closes: 17th August 2015 Job Ref: 119329
Department of Computer Science, Wolfson Building, Parks Road, Oxford
The Department of Computer Science has an exciting new opportunity for a Research Assistant in Large-Scale, Continuous Data Extraction on the VADA (Value-Added Data Systems and Architecture) project. This project, directed by Professor Georg Gottlob, is a collaboration between the Universities of Oxford, Edinburgh, and Manchester, and aims to provide data scientists with a new generation of tools to unlock the potential of data assets. Specifically, you would be working on continuous data extraction for a self-healing joint wrapper induction, and data cleaning systems.
You should have a PhD (or be very close to completion) in a relevant area of science, together with a track record of conducting and completing research projects, evidenced by published peer-reviewed work, and /or development of automatic form-filling or equivalent interaction methods. Evidence of previous experience in reducing supervision for disambiguation and conflict resolution in data-driven systems through automatic generation of crowd-sourcing tasks, and integration of resulting feedback is highly desirable.
The post is fixed-term for up to 3 years (with a possible extension for a further 2 years).
The closing date for applications is 12.00 noon on 17 August 2015. Interviews are expected to be held on 21 August 2015.
