Job Description:
The Department of Biochemistry and Molecular Medicine is searching for a Research Associate to work under the direct supervision of Dr. Raja Mazumder.

Duties include:

  • Research and development of tools and knowledge bases involved in genomics and proteomics studies and the High-performance Integrated Virtual Environment ( HIVE ) project.
  • Lead the research and development of tools and knowledge bases involved in the standardization of High Throughput Sequencing data and the HIVE project.
  • Work full-time on the ongoing standardization efforts and will interface with key stakeholders and the scientific community.
  • Responsible for the maintenance and update of knowledge-base data sets.
  • Act as a primary super-user to guide and ensure quality of software, tool, and database developments.
  • Participate in the weekly lab meeting, bi-weekly research/publication meetings, monthly knowledge-base meetings, and monthly project meetings and present and discuss the progress of the project with Dr. Mazumder.
  • This position performs other duties as assigned. The omission of specific duties does not preclude the supervisor from assigning duties that are logically related to the position.
Minimum Qualifications:

Require’s a master’s degree and 1 year of experience in the field or in a related area.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree with experience in bioinformatics, molecular and cellular biology and understanding of basic oncology and glycobiology.
  • Experience in genomics platform such as HIVE or Galaxy.
  • Applicant should be able to work independently, meet deadlines, write monthly progress reports, and present the progress reports to key stakeholders.
  • Applicant should have a strong understanding of bioinformatics, as the stakeholders they will be interacting with are developing bioinformatic tools.
