Job Description:
An exciting opportunity has arisen for the appointment of a Chemometrics Research Associate, specialising in advanced computing or statistical modelling, to support project analysis in the Imperial BRC Clinical Phenotyping Centre (CPC) and MRC-NIHR National Phenome Centre (NPC). The successful candidate will be responsible for driving analysis of project datasets in collaboration with both centres’ customers.

Directed by Professor Jeremy Nicholson, the NPC and CPC are large-scale facilities based at Imperial College, for metabolic phenotyping of humans in epidemiological and clinical cohorts respectively, to discover biomarkers of disease and enhance understanding of the interactions between genes, lifestyle and other environmental factors.

Working as part of a team, the post holder will conduct the statistical, bioinformatic, and interpretive analysis of analytical data acquired in the NPC or CPC, and support the maintenance of the informatics infrastructure, ensuring delivery of allocated projects on time and, working with colleagues, to budget. The post holder will generate reports, and ensure provision of analytical data to customers and will be responsible for the archiving of data. He/she will ensure that the laboratory information systems are well maintained and efficiently run, and the data produced are of very high quality. He/she will have an important role in ensuring good communications with colleagues across the Division of Integrative Systems Medicine and Digestive Diseases and with our customers and partners in other organisations.

Applicants should hold a PhD degree or equivalent in bioinformatics, biostatistics, chemometrics, computer science or similar field.

This full-time position is offered for a fixed-term of up to 12 months in the first instance, and will be based at the Hammersmith Hospital campus.
