Job Description:
One post doctoral position is immediately open to pursue studies related to the cellular and molecular origins of basal-like breast cancer. The overarching goal is to develop a better understanding of the biological underpinnings this type of cancer to enable development of more rational and effective diagnostic strategies and treatments.

As described in more detail on Dr. Wahl's lab website and the publication cited therein, we use broad ranging mouse genetic, in vitro, and bioinformatics approaches for our studies. We use single cell RNA-sequencing, functional assays, and bioinformatics strategies to decipher the pathways that lead to acquisition of the stem cell state during the evolution of the basal-like breast cancers. This information is suggesting new routes to targeted therapies.

Education:

Ph.D. Or M.D./Ph.D. In Biological Studies, Computational Biology, Cancer Biology, etc.

Experience:

Background in any of the following areas: bioinformatics, single cell sequencing methods, mouse models of development and or cancer. Candidates with additional knowledge of mammary development, breast cancer, cellular reprogramming, wound healing, tissue repair, are especially encouraged to apply.

Additional Info:
The research focuses on two important problems related to cancer biology. Currently, the studies revolve around the mammary gland to determine whether breast cancer arises from mutations within the stem cells that generate this tissue. The long-term goal of these studies is to determine whether such cells exhibit growth requirements and patterns of drug sensitivity that might be targeted for the development of more effective therapeutics.

Application Instructions:

Applicants should submit a current CV, names of three references, and an indication of the experimental direction they would like to pursue based on their reading of our recent papers. Send applications to:
