The Department of Radiation Oncology at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania seeks candidates for a Research Associate position in the Academic Support Staff. This appointment will be initially for one (1) year and continuation during that time period and renewal are based on satisfactory performance and availability of funding (limited to three (3) years). Responsibilities include conducting research in the area of cancer DNA damage response and how this impacts both cell intrinsic pathways and the tumor microenvironment. This research will heavily utilize genome-wide approaches that involve next generation sequencing technologies, high dimensional data acquisition and analysis, and computational biology. The ideal candidate must have strong research experience in molecular biology, be proficient in programming and bioinformatics, and possess expertise in genomics. The candidate should also be able to provide mentoring and guidance to graduate and undergraduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and technicians and possess excellent oral and written communication skills. Candidate will be expected to design, execute, troubleshoot, and interpret experiments. In addition, bioinformatics and computational biology skills for data analysis are essential. Expertise in maintaining servers and data storage management is also required. The candidate will assist in the preparation of research grants, progress reports, meeting abstracts and peer-reviewed publications. Applicants must have a Ph.D. degree and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in education and research.
Demonstrated excellent interpersonal and communication skills, as well as strong planning, organization, and independent decision-making capabilities are required. Candidates must have a strong publication record, a Ph.D. or equivalent degree, and have demonstrated excellent qualifications in research.
