Job Description:
Job Duties:
- Performs laboratory procedures following protocols for DNA/RNA sequencing, including: PCR, gel electrophoresis, DNA & RNA isolation from plasma, cell and tissue, DNA purification etc.
- Conducts biological sample preparation and library preparation for sequencing-based assays.
- Operates and maintains laboratory instruments, including but not limited to:
pipettes, centrifuges, thermocyclers, sonicators, Nanodrop, Agilent Tapestation or Bioanalyzer, Illumina Next-Gen sequencers.
- Maintains detailed and accurate laboratory records
- Performs routine lab duties and maintains lab stocks, solutions, reagents, and ordering supplies.
- Interprets scientific data and prepares simple reports.
- Demonstrates initiative in problem solving to improve laboratory procedures.
- Works with bioinformatics scientists to analyze data and trouble shoot assay issues.
Minimum Requirements:
- A Bachelor's / Master's degree in life sciences.
- 2 years of molecular biology lab experience.
- Extensive experience with PCR and NGS library preparation.
- Experience with DNA target capture methods.
- Basic understanding of the sequencing-by-synthesis method.
- Strong ability to learn new skills and meticulous attention to detail.
- Hands on experience with next-generation sequencers is strongly preferred.
- Hands on experience with small to large scale samples desirable.
