Job Description:
The Centre for Population Health Research (CPHR) is an University of South Australia flagship research concentration in Population Health located at the South Australian Health and Medical Research Institute, incorporating a group of leading scientists in epidemiology, public health and biostatistics. CPHR focuses not only in making scientific discoveries, but also in influencing public health policies and health care practices. This position will contribute to the research activities relating to multiple National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) and Australian Research Council (ARC) funded projects in relation to advanced whole genome approaches and whole genome estimation and prediction analysis of genomics data. Reporting directly to the Senior Lecturer in Statistical Genetics you will contribute to the preparation and development of grant and tender applications, including undertaking power calculations, literature searchers, among other tasks. You will also contribute to the supervision of Honours and / or Postgraduate research students as required. Skills And Experience: To be eligible for this role, you will have postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field such as quantitative genetics, statistics, bioinformatics, computer programing, mathematics, epidemiology or other relevant areas. You will also have knowledge and understanding of genetic principles along with experience in statistical analysis of quantitative or statistical genetic models for complex traits. Your high-level verbal and written communication skills will enable you to present information effectively and clearly to a wide audience and a variety of stakeholders, including writing for publication. Additionally, you will have a developing record of research achievement as demonstrated by publications, conference papers and other research activities, commensurate with opportunity.
