Job Description:
We are seeking a highly motivated biochemist or molecular biologist with a passion for data management who would like to develop a career outside of laboratory research to work as an independent research data manager. Informaticians with degrees in biochemistry or molecular biology or equivalent experience would also be considered for this post.

Working on three large-scale research projects in the Nuffield Department of Orthopaedics, Rheumatology and Musculoskeletal Sciences in the Botnar Research Centre, and the Structural Genomics Consortium, Nuffield Department of Clinical Medicine on Old Road Campus, University of Oxford. This will be a joint appointment and you will be employed 60% by NDORMS and 40% by NDM.

You will be responsible for engaging with the project scientists to understand the data being generated and recommend and implement a data management plan using the existing LIMS platform and other informatics tools as required. You will be responsible for monitoring compliance with the data management plan and reporting back to project team leaders and principle investigators and perform training to ensure the platform is used to its fullest extent.

You will have a degree in molecular biology, biochemistry, structural biology, cheminformatics, high-content screening, bioinformatics or related area and will have strong RDBMS experience. Experience of coding in Python and R would be desirable.

This is a full time fixed-term appointment until 24 June 2019.
