Job Description:
Postdoctoral fellow position available in the Walker Laboratory at the Center for Genomic Medicine at the Massachusetts General Hospital, Harvard Medical School, Boston, Massachusetts. The Walker Laboratory uses vertebrate (cell and mouse) and invertebrate (Drosophila) model systems to study the molecular and genetic pathways that contribute to neurofibromatosis type 1 (NF1) and schwannomatosis.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The postdoctoral fellow will develop innovative computational approaches to systematically analyze and integrate proteomic, transcriptomic and kinome data sets to identify signaling pathways and targets in NF1-associated tumors. A particular focus will be to investigate the adaptive kinome of NF1-deficient cells in response to potentially therapeutic kinase inhibitors. The postdoctoral fellow will be situated in the MGH under the guidance and mentorship of Dr. Walker, but will also be required to work remotely in collaboration with a team of academic investigators based at University of North Carolina Chapel Hill, Sage Bionetworks (Seattle) and Johns Hopkins University.

SKILLS & COMPETENCIES REQUIRED:

The ideal candidate should have received (or expect to receive soon) a Ph.D. in Computer Science, Statistics, Genetics, Bioinformatics, Computational Biology or related fields.

-Highly proficient in R and/or Python.

-Experience with commonly used bioinformatics tools and databases.

-First (or co-first) author of one or more peer-reviewed scientific publications.

-Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.

-Able to work both independently and in a team.

-Preferable experience working with proteomics data and/or NGS data (e.g. RNA-seq) and downstream analysis (e.g. pathway/network analyses).
