Fixed term contract for 24 months, with a possibility of renewal.
Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to work on a major new ERC funded project under the supervision of Dr Adrian Chaplin. The project will develop unprecedented transition-metal-based rotaxane and catenane systems for studying the fundamental organometallic chemistry of alkane activation.
Candidates must have completed (or be soon to complete) a PhD or equivalent in synthetic supramolecular or organometallic chemistry. A proven ability in innovative and effective experimental research is essential and you should be skilled in the use of techniques for the manipulation, purification and characterisation of air- and moisture sensitive compounds. Applications are particularly favoured from candidates with demonstrable research experience with interlocking/host-guest supramolecular systems and/or reactive late transition metal complexes. An interest and aptitude for ligand orientated organic synthesis is essential.
You will be able to work independently and as part of a research team, aiding in the supervision of junior research workers. You will have excellent communication and scientific writing skills.
