Job Description:
Applications are invited for a highly skilled and motivated Research Fellow in Bioinformatics to perform functional assessment of DNA variants identified from high-throughput sequencing data of individuals affected by mental illness. Psychiatric illness is a complex trait which results from the combined effects of the environment and both rare and common genetic variants. The post holder will join an international project funded by the NIH to test for possible modifiers of risk against the background of the highly, but incompletely penetrant, chromosomal translocation in a unique family. Their role will be to develop and apply prediction algorithms for ‘damaging’ mutations, and to perform statistical analyses for pathway enrichment and epistasis, to estimate the individual and cumulative contributions of observed sequence variants to mental health liability.
Ref: 031757 Closing Date: 7th November 2014
