Company : Bristol-Myers Squibb Country : Role : Research Scientist
Job Description:
Duties: Leverage molecular genetics, work on next generation sequencing technologies and bioinformatics analysis toward the indentification and development of new pharmaceutical targets with therapeutic area focused on fibrosis, immuno-oncology, neuropathy, muscular dystrophy and cardiomyopathy by drawing on experience with: short read (Illumina) and single molecule (PacBio, Nanopore), NextGen Sequencing technologies; open source bioinformatics tools including GATK, Cufflinks, SAMtools, BAMtools, and Cytoscape; commercial bioinformatics tools (ArrayStudio, Partek), data visualization tools (Spotfire), molecular pathway analysis tools (Metabase, IPA); proficiency in machine learning, statistical modeling and data mining tools; knowledge of commercial and publicly available biological databases NCBI, Ensembl, ArrayExpress/GEO, SRA, TCGA, 1000 Genomes; and ability to build custom software. Utilize novel and creative approaches to develop epigenetic approaches to disease modification and biological network analysis to understand disease mechanisms and define new targets. Integrate multi-modal multi-analyte biomarker data from preclinical data or clinical trials as well as literature based evidence to understand disease pathogenesis and progression, drug mode-of-action and response to therapies. Work closely with biologists and statisticians to design the right experiments, develop biomarkers and develop testable hypotheses from gene expression and genetic data to facilitate practical application of these molecular/genetic signatures. Work closely with biomarker leads and translational research teams to identify and address near term and long term bioinformatics needs for preclinical and clinical programs and work closely with core bioinformatics group to communicate these needs. Present analysis results and interpretations to cross functional matrix teams of biomarker leads, discovery biologists, statisticians, informaticians and clinicians. Requirements: Doctorate degree in Computational Biology, Molecular Genetics, Biotechnology or related field plus 1 year of post-baccalaureate experience reflecting demonstrable ability in the skill set described above. (Note that experience need only reflect ability in the skill set. Employer does not require a full 1 year of documented experience using the required skills). Salary: one hundred and ten thousand five hundred and forty-nine dollars per year. *** This position is eligible for our employee referral program
