Job Description:
The successful applicant will:

  • Perform quality control on and analyze large-scale genomic data sets using quantitative genetic approaches like generalized linear models.
  • Perform genome-wide (including complete sequence) data management and analysis.
Qualifications:

A minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in computer science, bioinformatics, statistics, engineering, or the physical sciences strongly preferred. Exceptional candidates with

other degrees may apply. A concentration in a field of study relevant to genetic epidemiology or statistical genetics is advantageous.

Previous experience with computational/statistical methods, algorithms and software packages is valuable. Experience with Perl, Python, Java or C++ and familiarity with standard statistical-genetic packages and/or bioinformatics tools like R, Bioconductor, PLINK, etc. are beneficial. Experience working in a LINUX is extremely helpful. Knowledge of genetic regulation of gene expression, eQTL analyses, sequencing, and genetic association studies is advantageous.

Ability to function independently is important. Ability to coordinate multiple concurrent projects and meet deadlines in a demanding research environment, attention to details, strong reasoning, oral communication, written communication (graphical and text based) skills, collaborative skills, including the ability to work well with other divisions, laboratories, and universities, is required.

The position offers considerable scope for creative work on important scientific problems in collaboration with other members of the group which includes researchers from other universities.
