Job Description:
The Ouyang Lab at The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine is seeking a senior level Research Scientist. The incumbent will develop statistical/computational methods/tools for biological big data integration, analysis, and visualization, and apply them to human development and complex diseases/traits. In this role, you will have an excellent opportunity to make leading contributions to cutting edge research in disease biology and translational research in collaboration with the faculty and research scientists of The Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop statistical/computational methods and tools for processing and integration of biological big data from cutting-edge technologies/platforms (3D genomics, single-cell genomics, long-read sequencing, imaging, etc.)
  • Collaborate with investigators at JAX, define hypotheses, design studies, devise analysis pipelines, implement analysis, evaluate algorithms and tools, and make leading contributions to publications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • PhD in statistics/biostatistics, bioinformatics, computer science, or related fields
  • Proven research experience and publication records in statistical/computational genomics
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently and in a team
  • Self-motivated and disciplined, time and project management skills
  • Proficient in high-performance computing, Unix/Linux shell, R, Python/Perl, and version control software
