Job Description:
The Research Scientist conducts bioinformatics data analysis under direction of supervisor. Utilize commercial and public data sets. Evaluate existing data analysis tools and techniques. Develop and implement data analysis workflows. Develop analysis tools and applications. Analyze data as required by researchers. Document preparation as required (figures, text for publication, documentation, or grant preparation). The role of a Research Scientist is to develop and work on an independent research project that furthers the goals of the Investigator. To be effective in this role, it is expected in this role, it is expected that the Research Associate III will have numerous peer review publications. The Research Scientist may be required to supervise or train other research personnel such as Post Doctoral Fellows or Research Assistants, as needed for the project. He/she may apply for smaller grants or awards and eventually, with approval of the BIIR Director for an NIH R01 grant or equivalent. The Research Associate III is also expected to contribute significantly to the Investigator’s grant proposal developments. The Research Scientist is also expected to contribute significantly to the Investigator’s grant proposal developments. The Research Scientist will be expected to present at BIIR Works-in-Progress Seminars and may serve as a liaison with external departments.

Ideal candidate will have a PhD, at least 5 years of experience, and a track record of being consistently published in their field.
