Duties
Perform molecular biology techniques including PCR and cloning.
Research Specialist B duties:
. Utilize bioinformatics software.
. Maintain cell culture lines.
. Generate stable cell lines.
. Perform biochemical techniques
. Prepare solutions, reagents, media, and glassware as needed.
. Order and maintain laboratory supplies and equipment.
. Other duties as assigned.
Research Specialist C duties:
Same as above, plus:
. Design and create constructs.
. Introduce DNA into cell lines by transfection.
. Determine transcript levels in mammalian tissues and cell lines.
. Analyze protein localization.
Qualifications
Research Specialist B Qualifications:
v A Bachelor’s degree and 1-3 years of lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; Bachelor’s in biology, chemistry or molecular biology, or related field preferred. Experience with cellular/molecular biology techniques is desirable. Must have strong organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential. Willingness to learn new techniques is an asset.
Research Specialist C Qualifications:
A Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years of lab experience or equivalent combination of education and experience is required; Bachelor’s in biology, chemistry or molecular biology, or related field preferred. Experience with cellular/molecular biology techniques is desirable. Must have strong organizational skills, good written and oral communication skills, and must be reliable; ability to coordinate several projects concurrently is essential. Willingness to learn new techniques is an asset.
Position contingent on continued funding.
