Job Description:
The Industrial and Applied Genomics Group of the Accelerated Discovery Lab at IBM Research is looking for a summer intern to work on computational biology in the Sequence the Food Supply Chain Consortium (http://www.research.ibm.com/client-programs/foodsafety/). The intern will participate in studies of microbial ecology connected with food safety, using metagenomics, metatranscriptomics, statistical analysis, and machine learning. The work is based on a growing body of experimental data and use of the Metagenomics Computation and Analytics Workbench (MCAW) cluster and software. Candidates familiar with deep learning algorithms, graph algorithms, spatio-temporal and other forms of data analytics, or management of large unstructured data systems, are highly desirable. We are seeking student researchers who are self-motivated and passionate about developing new algorithms and expanding fundamental research bounds. Students with a demonstrated background expertise in computer science, mathematics, physics, computational genomics, bioinformatics, computational biology or equivalent areas currently enrolled in graduate programs are encouraged to apply.
