Job Description:
The Research Institute of the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia, an interdisciplinary institution dedicated to conducting basic, clinical and translational research on conditions and diseases that affect children is seeking a Research Technician II. This position is within the CHOP Microbiome Center. The position requires expertise in DNA manipulation and bioinformatics analysis. The candidate should have experience with DNA purification, amplification, cloning and sequencing. The applicant should also be familiar with online tools for DNA sequence manipulation and analysis. Expertise with programming and statistical analysis are also desirable. Salary commensurate with experience. A two year commitment is requested. Job Responsibilities: •Performs routine tests under the direction of principal investigator or supervisor. •Performs research procedures on experimental samples as directed. •Records and checks results for completeness and accuracy. •Performs calculations and maintains appropriate log books and lab notebooks. •Performs tasks that require familiarity with fundamental techniques and equipment. •Assists with planning specific research protocols and procedures. •Maintains office, lab area, reagents, supplies and equipment. •Cleans and performs routine maintenance on lab equipment. •Coordinates schedules of tests & procedures. •Records results, organizes data and maintains lab notebook in an organized manner. •Attends courses, seminars, and lab meetings to expand knowledge of research and laboratory techniques. •Conducts literary searches as directed. Required Education and Experience: •Associate’s degree, 9 - 18 months laboratory experience required •Relevant Internship experience considered Preferred Education, Experience & Cert/Lic: Bachelor's degree in a sciene related field such as Genetics, Biology, Biochemistry, Bioinformatics. GPA must be entered on profile and resume. Transcripts will be required if selected for an interview. Interested individuals should send a cover letter and CV.
