Job Description:
Responsibilities And Tasks:

The successful candidate will focus on projects concerning the analysis, understanding and modelling of biochemical systems, especially from a cheminformatics point of views. The systems will be pertinent to both biotechnological production and to human health. A key task will be the production of suitable databases and standardised workflows. In addition, he/she will closely collaborate with other members, including bench scientists, as appropriate

Specific Tasks:

  • Key role in the development and production of suitable workflows for computational biology, cheminformatics analysis, including bioinformatic and other data as appropriate Particular focus on experimental metabolomics data (XC-MS)
  • Involvement in acquisition, integration and analysis of data from various sources (literature, omics, phenotypic)
  • Assistance in the automation (including automated analysis) of biochemical experiments
  • Lead on deep learning of multi-dimensional experimental design and protein-substrate interaction predictions
Other Content Of The Position, E.g.:
  • Interaction with other computational modellers, including genome models, reaction network modellers.
  • Interaction with relevant experimental groups
  • cooperation with other institutes of DTU including Bio Engineering/Bio Informatics/Compute.
It is expected that the successful candidate will engage in collaborative efforts of the central DTU Biosustain software engineering team / DTU Biosustain iLoop, and will become part of a network with other colleagues at DTU working in computational biology and mass spectrometry-based metabolomics.

Qualifications:

Candidates should have a PhD degree or equivalent.

Further Qualifications:

  • Extensive knowledge of bioinformaticscheminformatics, preferably within a workflow environment such as KNIME
  • Knowledge of bioinformatics highly desirable
  • Knowledge of XC-MS data deconvolution software strategies (e.g. Progenesis Qi) desirable
  • Candidates will be expected to have suitable programming experience
  • Experience of working in collaborative software projects
  • Experience in designing and implementing distributed software systems
  • Excellent python and shell programming skills
  • Knowledge and experience in using software testing frameworks
  • Knowledge of modern web-technologies.
  • Knowledge of general machine intelligence and analytics (optimisation, machine learning, clustering)
  • Interest and experience in modern data visualisation
  • Postdoctoral experience and an excellent scientific track record with good publications in the relevant field.

Salary and terms of employment:

The appointment will be based on the collective agreement with the Danish Confederation of Professional Associations. The allowance will be agreed with the relevant union.
