Job Description:
We are looking for a Scientific Application Specialist for our growing biopharma IT business. The Scientific Application Specialist for Genedata Biologics™ and Bioprocess™ is responsible for providing expert support for our Genedata Biopharma platform™, specifically in the area of DNA and protein sequence data processing, laboratory automation support, and IT integration. The Scientific Application Specialist is an interdisciplinary, multi-faceted position that offers an exciting opportunity to learn, support, shape, and promote a successful, cutting-edge software system. Your role will be to work on a wide variety of projects and tasks with an emphasis on enterprise software implementation and scientific consulting projects, including: -Specification and development of software configurations and integrations using Java and SQL -Provide expert support and troubleshoot problems with customers. -Deploy and administer enterprise software systems (e.g. Tomcat, 3-tier architecture) -Manage software installations and upgrades for customers. -Author scripts to analyze and process large customer datasets. -Large enterprise system deployment projects, data migration projects, process and requirements analyses, technical trainings, technology transfer, and operational services. -Communicate with scientific account managers, product managers, and developers. The position offers a high level of interactivity and responsibility in a growing company, and will provide the opportunity to cultivate new skills and work as a member of a strong international team. This full-time position is based at our offices in Lexington, Massachusetts. Your Profile As an ideal candidate you hold at least a BS degree in a life sciences or engineering field. You have an eagerness to learn, are self-competent, and have produced self-motivated, independent work on various programming projects. You have a desire to work on scientific software projects and are familiar with the development process and the support of software. For this position, we are looking for someone with: -1-2 years post-university programming experience. -Experience working with SQL and relational databases. -Experience working in a UNIX environment. -Ability to master new technical skills and information quickly. -Strong interpersonal skills, with good sense for accomplishing business objectives. -Strong initiative and dedication to quality of work. -Fluency in English with excellent verbal and written communication skills. -Legal authorization to work in the US for any employer. Experience in the biopharma R&D industry, and the fields of antibody discovery, protein engineering, biopharma production and bioanalytics, biologics screening and lab automation is not necessary, but a strong plus. Familiarity with major standard bioinformatics tools and databases.
