The following temporary position is to be filled with immediate effect for a period of three years in the Biological Safety department at the BfR in the “Epidemiology, Zoonoses and Antimicrobial Resistance” unit: Scientific Officer in the field of New development of institute-specific software solutions - Salary group 14 TVöD - Reference number: 1747/2017 Part-time work is possible. Duties: New development of institute-specific software solutions (https://foodrisklabs.bfr.bund.de) -Independent technical conception and implementation of workflows for the validation, analysis, visualisation and reporting of laboratory and monitoring data -Independent scientific conception and implementataion of workflows for the analysis and visualisation of whole genome sequencing data -Independent development and implementation of public and protected web-based services for data retrieval and recording with an intuitive user interface -Identification and technical integration of existing, relevant BfR data sources into existing, institute-internal software solutions (https://foodrisklabs.bfr.bund.de) -Independent specialised conception and realisation of continuative epidemiological models and utilisation thereof in specific issues -Collaboration in the scientific processing of the official tasks of the unit -Conception, planning and conducting of training and workshops -Drafting of specialised publications and presentations Requirements: -Doctorate in Mathematics, Informatics, Bioinformatics, Epidemiology or comparable subject -At least 2 years of documented practical experience in the analysis of biological data using statistical methods -Programming knowledge of Java, Javascript, AngularJS -At least 2 years of professional experience in the supervision of software development projects of advantage -Knowledge and practical experience of the the application of epidemiological models of advantage -Practical experience in the administration and processing of large data quantities preferred -Experience with KNIME and Spotfire software preferred -Interest in biological matters and great technical understanding -Strongly pronounced communication skills and organisational competence -Very good written and spoken English -Good computer skills as well as a conscientious work approach, flexibility, ability to work in a team and the ability to cope with pressure are prerequisites, as is willingness to travel on business
