Job Description:
Foundation Medicine is a molecular information company dedicated to changing the way patients with cancer are treated. We are seeking a highly-motivated scientist with cancer biology, computational biology, and/or bioinformatics experience. This role will support clinical cancer research through advanced data mining. The analyst will perform large-scale genomic analyses across multiple cancer types using established algorithms and methods. This candidate will work closely with colleagues in cancer genomics to interpret results, assist in the explanation of these findings to external partners, and participate in downstream experimental follow-up. Familiarity with basic coding is necessary. This position requires a high level of scientific rigor, professional maturity, the ability to meet tight deadlines, and exquisite attention to detail.
Responsibilities:
Work independently to perform hypothesis-driven molecular queries using internal databases and algorithms
Design and implement standard procedures for data delivery and interpretation
Interpret data analysis results within the context of tumor biology, and contribute to downstream experimental design
Work collaboratively with internal colleagues to refine analysis algorithms and methods
Contribute to broader projects within Research and Development
Qualifications:
Previous experience in cancer biology or molecular biology
Familiarity with basic coding languages (R, python, etc.)
Experience with sequence-based analysis of large-scale genomic datasets
Experience integrating genomic data into experimental design
Familiarity with basic statistics
Past experience working with publicly available datasets, such as TCGA
Unsurpassed reliability, high ethical standards, meticulous attention to detail, and unparalleled integrity
Desired Skills And Experience
Familiarity with next generation sequencing principles and targeted therapies
Previous experience working with data from personalized medicine studies
Previous research experience in academia or industry
Education Or Experience
Minimum Ph.D. (or equivalent) with a strong background in cancer biology, computational biology, and/or bioinformatics; M.S. candidates with relevant experience will also be considered
Established record of translational scientific research as demonstrated by abstracts and peer-reviewed publications
Effective oral and written communication skills
