Job Description:
The Scientist will be responsible for assisting the development of clinical diagnostic assays, biomarker signatures, and novel discoveries in cancer genomics, through research, implementation, and validation of advanced computational methods. This work will drive internal development as well as collaborations with academic and biopharma partners. The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills, creativity, solid programming experience, a high level of professional maturity, and ability to consistently meet deadlines under pressure.

Responsibilities:

  • Development, analysis, and testing of advanced computational methods to enhance FM’s clinical diagnostic platform with an emphasis on rigorously validated results and robust procedures to bring methods to the operational level.
  • Creation of novel biomarker signatures based on NGS.
  • Providing analytic results and interpretation for questions posed by internal and external partners.
  • Providing scientific expertise for other internal teams, clinical customers, and external collaborators.
  • Drafting and completing manuscripts for publication; manage data analysis and interpretation of study results throughout manuscript publication process from draft through submission and acceptance.
  • Development of computational methods and validation of clinical diagnostic assays for pharmaceutical partners based on NGS.
Qualifications:
  • Minimum PhD in Bioinformatics, Biology, Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics or a related field with a significant quantitative base.
  • Ability to develop and rigorously test computational biology methods using a scripting language such as python.
  • Possess extensive scientific understanding of genetics and genomics, have technical proficiency and creativity, and show a strong capacity for independent thinking.
  • Experience with bioinformatics tools and databases (NCBI, UCSC Genome Browser, IGV, galaxy, biopython, bam files, etc.).
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Experience with writing code for genomic data analysis
  • Knowledge of cancer genomics, oncology, genomics, and NGS data analysis
  • Substantive research experience in a rigorous academic setting
  • Experience working in a medical environment
