Job Description:
Juno Therapeutics Bioinformatics group is seeking a highly motivated and talented computational biologist passionate about using and developing computational methods to analyze genomic data in the context of cancer immunotherapy. Juno Therapeutics is a clinical-stage company aiming to revolutionize medicine by redirecting the body’s immune system against cancer. We are developing novel cellular immunotherapies based on two distinct and complementary platforms – Chimeric Antigen Receptors (CARs) and T Cell Receptors (TCRs). The Bioinformatics group is part of Research Quantitative Sciences which supports Translational Sciences, Research, Process Development and Manufacturing. The position focuses on the application of bioinformatics expertise to the analysis and interpretation of large datasets, including RNA-seq, in vitro and in vivo assay results and a variety of public databases to support ongoing research projects in close collaboration with project teams.

Job Description:

  • Apply advanced techniques in bioinformatics, statistical analysis, and programming to biological problems across a wide range of indications and drug safety areas at Juno
  • Work with large internal and external biological data sets including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) data
  • Development and maintenance of genomics data analysis pipelines
  • Perform as a member of a multifunctional team within Research focused on leveraging NGS and statistical inference to improve our understanding and development of cancer immunotherapies
  • Coordinate data deposition and analytical outputs across multiple researchers
  • Interface directly with project teams and key stakeholders within Juno to ensure the appropriate and timely inclusion of relevant datasets
  • Represent group internally and externally through presentations, publications, networks, collaborations and conferences to promote approaches and raise the profile of work within the team
Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in bioinformatics, computational biology, genetics, statistics or equivalent field
  • Hands-on experience in the fields of bioinformatics and genomics including working with various public and proprietary data repositories (e.g., TCGA, GTEx, dbSNP, Ensembl, UCSC genome browser), bioinformatics tools (e.g., sequence aligners, variant callers, gene fusion analysis), and statistical environments (e.g., R, S+, Matlab)
  • Strong background in statistical analysis of genomic/high-throughput sequencing data
  • Proficiency with data visualization tools (Spotfire, Tableau, R, Python)
  • Proficiency with a general scripting language such as Python, Ruby, or Perl and working in a Unix/Linux environment · Ability to work independently and as a member of a multifunctional analytical team in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal, verbal, and written communications skills
Desired Skills & Experience (preferred):
  • Domain knowledge in immunology or cancer biology
  • Track record of innovative publications in the application of or methodological development of integrative analysis of high-dimensional data
  • Experience with machine learning
  • Experience with epigenomic platforms and analysis
  • Experience developing new algorithms for the analysis of large NGS datasets
  • Experience with workflow management tools for reproducible pipeline development
  • Experience in compiled programming languages
  • Familiarity with high performance AWS and cloud-based scalable computing
  • Experience using and developing relational databases
  • 1-2 years post-doctoral or industry experience
