We are looking for a Scientific Director to lead our efforts in variant classification in cancer susceptibility genes.  After detecting sequence variations in DNA, Myriad will classify these into 5 different categories for use in a clinical setting.  This program focuses on sequence variants (mutations) classified into categories which aren’t useful clinically, and strives to collect and analyze data to reclassify them to something clinically useful (polymorphism or deleterious/pathogenic).This Scientific Director will join our Medical Services team and help design and validate existing and novel methods of variant classification.  This “dry lab” scientific experience is unmatched in the clinical diagnostic industry and we are looking for someone passionate about the patient and willing to collaborate across disciplines to achieve high scientific standards.Backgrounds preferred include: molecular biology, genetics, genetic epidemiology, population genetics, biochemistry, bioinformatics and relevant experience and leadership is required.
  • Design and validate novel methods of classification for genetic variants in cancer susceptibility genes
  • Collaborate with in-house structural biologist to integrate Myriad’s emerging, industry-leading structural biology program into variant classification.
    • Collaborate with multiple disciplines to achieve robust scientific conclusions
    • Contribute to current methods of variant classification
    • Publish several manuscripts relevant to variant classification
    • Attend and present at relevant scientific meetings
PhD in related life science and relevant work experience. 5-10 years industry experience. Myriad Genetics, Inc.
