Do you thrive in a fast-paced, highly collaborative start-up environment? We want to hear from you. The Specific Responsibilities Of This Position Include:
- Develop workflows from existing algorithms and/or modify bioinformatics and statistical methods to analyze NGS data. Demonstrate validity of methods through prototypes and benchmarking
- Partner with the immunology group to design and analyze NGS experiments that provide quantitative information about gene therapy product performance and understand factors that may illicit immune response
- Collaborate with the analytical Development group to analyze gene therapy product identity and purity using NGS technologies
- Automate established workflows by building internal tools with UIs for bench scientists
- Work with scientists across R&D to design studies that are appropriately powered and controlled to meet experimental and business objectives
- PhD in statistics, biostatistics, bioinformatics, or related discipline and 0-5+ years of experience in applied statistics for bioinformatics/biomedical research. The actual title will depend upon the background of the selected candidate.
- Successful hands-on experience with large-scale NGS data analysis (FASTQ through variant calling or differential expression including QC). Experience with RNA-seq data
- Demonstrated proficiency in Python and R
- Proven experience with current bioinformatics tools especially for RNA-seq analysis
- Strong familiarity with high performance computing (local or cloud-based)
- Routine use of version control (e.g. git, svn)
- Demonstrated ability to work in cross-functional teams as a strong team player as well as independently
- A successful history and ability to handle several fast-paced projects concurrently
- Great communication, writing and presentation skills to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience in NGS analysis of antibody repertoire/HLA, single cell, or deconvolution of gene expression from heterogeneous cell populations
- Familiarity with concepts of workflow management systems (e.g. Snakemake, Luigi) and Docker
- UI tool development using tools such as R Shiny or Flask
- Experience with documentation tools in Python and R
- Experience with Salmon, Kallisto, and/or Sleuth
