External Posting Title Scientist II, Translational Sciences Job Description The Translational Sciences group is seeking a talented, independent and highly motivated candidate with knowledge and experience to apply and implement approaches for individualized diagnosis, prognosis and treatment decisions for patients. The successful candidate will apply creative analytical skills and knowledge of disease mechanisms, biological systems and data analysis methodologies to generate novel hypotheses and mechanistic understanding of disease pathogenesis to support Translational Sciences initiatives across the neurology and immunology therapeutic areas. The candidate will be expected to do hands on data manipulation and analyses as well as partner with computational biologists and biostatisticians to run more sophisticated computational/mathematical models.
The emphasis is on the discovery and development of biomarkers that can help to stratify patients for proof of biology or proof of concept clinical studies. The individual, in collaboration with other scientists in the Translational Sciences group will plan and execute studies /analysis for establishing biomarker profiles associated with disease pathogenesis or treatment. The candidate will support generation and analysis of internal and external biomarker data in conjunction with phenotypic data and literature findings that can be used to guide decisions about biomarkers. In this highly specialized cross-functional role, the selected candidate will participate in teams and work with disease modeling groups, clinical staff, biostatisticians and lab scientists to contribute to the experimental design and/or Biomarker/ translational clinical study designs in addition to analysis and interpretation of results within pre-agreed timelines. Location Cambridge, MA, US Job Category Research Requisition Number 23805BR Qualifications Solid knowledge of molecular biology, clinical development, immunology, neuroscience, patient stratification or related fields is required. Strong background in systems biology, statistics and bioinformatics is required. Knowledge of analytic approaches using transcriptomic, genetic, genomic, proteomic or epigenetic datasets is required. Knowledge of clinical studies, translational informatics and biomarker development is desired. Strategic planning, oversight of external collaborations and technology assessment is a plus. Ability to learn new tools quickly and apply them to projects is a must.
