Job Description:
Software Testing Engineer/Scientist (Bioinformatics)SummaryThe Life Science Solutions Division within Thermo Fisher Scientific is in need of an experienced, productive and enthusiastic software testing engineer/bioinformatics scientist. The position will be part of a dedicated team of scientists and engineers working on the cutting edge Next Generation Sequencing technology. This full-time position is based in our South San Francisco office.
Key Responsibilities
•Develop in C++/Python/Java data analysis tools
•Implement algorithm enhancements in C++
•Develop unit test suites for algorithm code, implement testing scripts to assess algorithm performance
•Help testing team to set up testing pipeline for algorithm testing
•Analyze testing results, help dev team to locate issues
•Support internal/external users to analyze data, investigate data related issues
Minimum Qualifications (must have)
Requirements
•Required: must have a can-do attitude, excited about working in a fast paced environment, must be a self starter
•Required: Solid knowledge of next gen sequencing, solid experience in common bioinformatics tools
•Required: 2+ years of experience in C++ programming, 2+ years of experience in Java programming
•Required: 2+ years of experience working on bioinformatics projects
•Required: Solid understanding of mathematical concepts, excellent knowledge of algorithm development and data analysis
•Required: Solid experience with Unix/Linux
•Required: Understanding of software testing principles, tool sets, understanding of data analysis principles
•Required: Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Preferred Qualifications (nice to have)
•Desired: knowledge of Python
•Desired: Understand SW development processes/life cycle and SW Architecture
•Desired: Knowledge of web development/architecture
