Job Description:
We are searching for a highly collaborative individual to join a team of scientists focused on testing and translating human genetic discoveries into testable therapeutic hypotheses. We seek a human geneticist, biostatistician or genetic epidemiologist who is well-versed in analyzing human genetic data (DNA) of complex phenotypes. The successful candidate will participate on the statistical design and analysis of human genetic studies with an emphasis on next generation sequencing and genome-wide association studies. The candidate should have a solid foundation in statistics and genetics, a strong work ethic, the ability to work independently and an openness to work on highly collaborative teams. Using clinical and genetic data from academic collaborations, public-private partnerships and clinical trials, this individual will work with interdisciplinary teams to design and analyze genetic association studies as well as genotype-driven phenotyping experiments. This individual will also collaborate with functional genomics scientists and neuroscientists to design laboratory experiments to determine the molecular and cellular-level function of disease-associated genetic variants. This is an exciting opportunity for a motivated scientist who wishes to apply the results of genetics and genomics investigation to support the discovery of novel medicines.

Qualifications:

•Experience using large-scale phenotype and genetic data from academic collaborations, public-private partnerships and/or clinical trials.

• Experience using clinical data, electronic medical records, and laboratory data for analysis of complex phenotypes is desired.

• Knowledge of experimental design principles.

• Management of large genetic studies (n>10,000).

• Statistical software (R/MATLAB/SAS).

• Programming/Scripting skills (Perl/Python/Shell/Java).

• Knowledge of statistical genetics software. (PLINK/MaCH/IMPUTE2/HLA*IMP/METAL/GWAMA/etc.)

• Knowledge of next generation sequencing statistical analysis (QC metrics, analysis of rare variation)

• Outstanding communication and teamwork skills.

Education:

Ph.D. or M.D. Ph.D. in Bioinformatics, human genetics, epidemiology or biostatistics. 2-5 years’ post-degree experience in an academic or industrial setting preferred, but candidates at all levels will be considered.
