Job Description:
An exciting new opportunity for a Scientist/Senior Scientist in Next Generation Sequencing (NGS) has arisen at GeneFirst, an innovative molecular diagnostics company based in Oxfordshire. We are looking for a self-motivated scientist with extensive experience and knowledge of NGS and real-time PCR to bring to market novel assays and approaches.

Key Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Report directly to the CSO to assist in implementing R&D strategies
  • Design, execute, and accurately record scientific studies. Analyse data, evaluate results, and determine future experiments
  • Recommend innovative approaches, expansion or curtailment of investigations based on experimental data or new scientific information arising from their area of responsibility
  • Act independently to resolve technical problems encountered during experimental procedures to improve results
Essential Attributes:
  • A degree or Ph.D. in Genomics, Cellular/Cancer Biology, Bioinformatics or relevant Life Sciences field
  • Familiarity with NGS workflows and a strong emphasis on assay design, data analysis and interpretation
  • Strong background in molecular biology, designing, optimising and validating IVD/RUO assays
  • Team orientated with excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to take ownership and accountability of assignments
Desirable Attributes:
  • Familiarity with ISO13485 Quality Management System and in vitro diagnostics regulations
