The Opportunity
Denali Therapeutics is dedicated to developing breakthrough therapies for neurodegenerative diseases through our deep commitment to degeneration biology and principles of translational medicine.
In anticipation of the Company’s growth plans, Denali Therapeutics is seeking to recruit a Scientist/ Senior Scientist focusing on using bioinformatics to enable discovery research in neurodegenerative diseases. Reporting to the Head of Biology Discovery, this individual will analyze high-throughput genomic and other molecular data to increase our understanding of the pathways relevant to neurodegenerative disease.
Responsibilities
Develop and apply computational tools to mine both public and proprietary databases Utilize molecular, clinical, and genetic data to identify disease relevant pathways in support of internal discovery and biomarker efforts Work closely with colleagues in Biology, Medicinal Chemistry, Protein Sciences, Biomarker Discovery, Early Development and Clinical as part of interdisciplinary project teams Requirements
PhD in bioinformatics, biostatistics, computational biology with a strong publication record and 5+ years of postdoctoral experience. Some industry experience is preferred. A solid understanding of the relevant concepts in neuroscience and enthusiasm for learning more Experience working with multiple types of large scale genomic data (e.g. RNA-seq, genotype analysis, microarrays, etc.) Strong experience in the use of a high-level programming language such as R, MATLAB, Python or Perl for complex data analysis Exceptionally strong communication, data presentation and critical thinking skills Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to handle several concurrent, fast-paced projects
