Job Description:
The Wolchok lab at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center and the Parker Institute for Cancer Immunotherapy seeks a collaborative senior bioinformatician to lead the analysis of high-throughput sequencing data from mouse and human tumors, including WES, WGS, and RNA-seq. Must be willing to learn, apply, integrate, and develop new statistical models and computational algorithms, as well as manage and direct a small group of junior bioinformaticians in the lab. Ability to work in an interdisciplinary environment with clinicians and biologists required, as is an interest in investigating clinically relevant interactions between cancer and the immune system. Job requirements: PhD in Bioinformatics/Computational Biology Preferred skills: *Expertise in tumor exome analysis: -Experience performing mutation calling using common variant callers (Strelka, Mutect Varscan, SomaticSniper) and sequence analysis packages (picard, GATK) and similar programs in a cluster or cloud-based setting. -Ability to interpret tumor exome mutation calls in a biological and/or clinically relevant manner -Familiarity with HLA typing from exome sequence (e.g. seq2HLA, Optitype) and neoantigen prediction algorithms, with opportunity to learn from other bioinformaticians in the group if experience in this area is limited. *Knowledge of biological data analysis: -Familiarity with extracting data and performing analyses from common databases in the context of immunology (e.g. TCGA, ICGC, IEDB, cBio). -Facility with RNAseq differential expression analysis -Ability to communicate results and create publication quality figures to clinicians and collaborators through multiple means (e.g. Jupyter notebook, Tableau, Prism, ggplot2, matplotlib, cytospade etc.) -Familiarity with biostatistical methods (including survival analysis and time series analysis) and visualization of wet lab data (e.g., flow cytometry) preferred -Minor wet lab experience and in vivo/vitro experimental design preferred. *Programming experience: -Programming experience in R and a separate programming language (e.g. C/C++, Python, Perl, etc.) -Experience with the Unix environment, bash scripting and parallel computing.
