Job Description:
The Institute for Genomic Medicine at Columbia University is looking for a highly motivated Bioinformatics/statistical scientist to join our Bioinformatics team. The individual will join a talented group of bioinformatics scientists/statisticians and programmers to develop/implement novel bioinformatics and statistical software, develop/implement novel methods to perform large scale statistical analysis on population level genomic variants and their effects, lead and develop a big-data framework for large-scale genomic analysis on distributed computing platforms, provide programming and scientific support to graduate students and post-docs for implementing scalable and efficient bioinformatics and statistical analysis methods, document code and contribute to writing grants and manuscripts on analyses.

Minimum Qualifications for Grade:

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant Requires bachelor's degree or equivalent in education and experience, plus four years of related experience

Additional Position-Specific Minimum Qualifications:

Applicant MUST meet these minimum qualifications to be considered an applicant The applicant for this position must have demonstrated expertise in at least 3 of the following areas:

-Strong expertise in statistics and/or Machine learning

-Strong programming skills (R, C, Perl/Python of Java) and experience in *NIX environments

-Experience in statistical analysis of large datasets, genomics datasets preferable

Preferred Qualifications:

Master's degree in Quantitative Science with relevant additional experience.
