Job Description:
The Senior Bioinformatician is joining an existing local team of highly experienced bioinformaticians, working also with bioinformatics colleagues from around the world. The primary role of the successful candidate will be to contribute to the growing success of the GeneReader platform through NGS assay development and NGS data analysis for targeted resequencing. Frequent interaction with the assay development team (comprising biologists and engineers from technician to development leads) are part of the daily routine.

Position Requirements:

  • You will be qualified to MSc (or higher) in Bioinformatics, or 3 years or more of working experience in a commercial bioinformatics position.
  • Experience with NGS data analysis is required, as are programming skills (for example in R, Python or Perl) and knowledge of core bioinformatics tools (BLAST, samtools, primer3, etc).
  • Strong knowledge of genomics and biology is required, as is knowledge of relevant databases (dbSNP, COSMIC, etc).
  • An interest in the areas of molecular diagnostics, biomarker development and IVD development is a benefit but not a requirement.
Personal Requirements:
  • Key personal qualities include attention to detail, initiative and drive, and being a strong team player.
  • The successful candidate will be a keen learner and enjoy solving technically demanding challenges.
  • The ability to disseminate technical bioinformatics knowledge and results to non-experts and development leads is a must.
  • The role includes frequent interaction with international colleagues, and awareness of cultural differences is an advantage.
