Job Description:
We are looking for a colleague with extensive training and experience in computational biology and human genetics to join our highly productive, world-class research team. The ideal candidate will use their computational skills, biological insight, statistical knowledge, and creativity to shape the development of our research platform. The successful candidate should be comfortable analyzing large data sets and have strong software skills. The ability to communicate ideas and results to other scientists is key. Experience with NGS data analysis, machine learning, and a working knowledge of linear and non-linear models are pluses. The scope and breadth of our vision means that most of the necessary methods and tools have yet to be developed anywhere in the world.

Candidates for the senior computational biologist position should also have multiple years of experience playing a leadership role in algorithm or bioinformatics tool development and executing independently-developed ideas, as well as a demonstrated ability to communicate clearly and effectively with a wide range of audiences.

Responsibilities:

  • Work collaboratively with members of the research, engineering, and product teams to develop our research platform.
  • Design and implement of novel methods and tools to analyze large amounts of data to drive research on human health and ancestry, as well as therapeutic target discovery.
  • For senior scientists: supervise, develop, and mentor junior scientists. Manage teams to execute complex projects.
Qualifications:
  • Ph.D. in Computational Biology or a related field (e.g. Genetics, Computer Science, Statistics, Bioinformatics, Physics, Mathematics).
  • Substantial expertise in one or more of Python, R, C/C++, or Java.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
