Job Description: This laboratory within our Immunology Program is lead by a Physician-Scientist who studies the immunology of bone marrow transplantation. We are seeking an outstanding Computational Biologistwith a strong interest in developing and applying bioinformatic/quantitative methods to problems in cancer biology, immunology, and bone marrow transplantation. In this role, you will use your solid background in bioinformatics to collaborate with the wet-bench investigators in the laboratory. Ongoing projects and responsibilities include:

  • Development of new and utilize existing software and database systems to analyze next-generation sequence data including microbiota 16S sequencing data, T cell receptor repertoire sequencing, RNA-seq, and expression profile microarrays.
  • Development of and analysis of a database with data from our prior experiments currently archived in individual excel spreadsheets
  • Work directly with members of the research groups to develop bioinformatics scripts, analyze data, prepare figures of multidimensional datasets, and train lab members in the basic use of computational and bioinformatics tools
  • Analysis of genomic datasets
  • Attend seminars, lectures, and training courses as needed to learn new computational biology skills to remain up to date with the bioinformatics field
Qualifications
  • M.Sc. or Ph.D. in bioinformatics, biological science, mathematics, physics, bioinformatics or related field with strong quantitative background.
  • Solid programming skills and familiarity with next-generation sequence data and analysis tools required.
  • Must be able to both work independently and collaboratively.
  • Highly motivated with strong English communication skills.
  • Proficiency with R, Python (or Perl), and an ability to run software packages (e.g. mothur) in C++.
  • The ideal candidate will have have strong statistical and programming skills, an interest in immunology and cancer, enjoy working with an interdisciplinary team, and bring intellectual and analytical rigor to the projects.
