Job Description:
Principal Responsibilities

-Engage with life science clients to understand their challenges and opportunities and develop creative and innovative approaches.

-Apply a broad array of capabilities spanning machine learning, statistics, mathematics, modeling, simulation, text-mining/NLP, data-mining, pathway/network analysis.

-Digest complex data structures, perform statistical data reduction, summarization, normalization and multivariate data analyses and report findings using advanced visualization techniques such as Spotfire, Tableau, Partek or similar applications.

-Develop new software based tools, applications and solutions to provide our clients’ scientific staff with the necessary tools they need to do their work.

-Develop effort and cost estimates and detailed project plans so clients fully understand what you and/or the Tessella team will deliver.

-Directly manage junior staff performance and career development.

-Be a positive voice in the Tessella community, sharing your knowledge with others across the company.

Qualifications – Required

-Proven computational biology or data science experience in the life sciences field.

-Broad understanding of the biotech/pharmaceutical industry and supporting scientific, translational, and clinical platforms/domains.

-Deep understanding of algorithms, data processing, and visualization.

-Strong programming skills in scripting languages such as Python, R, and Perl.

Additional experience in at least one of the following areas:

> Predictive analytics

> Modelling and simulation

> Bayesian statistics

> Network analysis

-Knowledge of information systems, technology and databases serving and analyzing biological, chemical, genomic, and/or medical information.

-Experience processing and analyzing large multivariate data sets.

-Experience with algorithm development, data mining, Natural-Language Processing (NLP), machine learning, and artificial intelligence.

-Excellent communication and presentation skills with specific experience in cross functional collaborations.

-Demonstrable leadership experience.

-Problem solving and creativity skills.

Qualifications – Preferred

-Managerial experience for junior staff.

-Strong programming skills in programming languages such as C# and Java.

-Experience with big data and cloud computing platforms such as AWS or Azure

-Experience working in Unix/Linux terminals.

Education & Work Experience

-Masters or PhD in a STEM discipline

-At least 5 years computational biolo gy, data science or analytics experience

-At least 5 years post-graduate/Postdoc work experience in the life science industry
