Job Description:
CytoVale is a Series A medical diagnostic startup that is addressing a critical medical need in early sepsis diagnostics. Our groundbreaking approach, published in PNAS and Science Translational Medicine (see links below), exploits microfluidic phenomena and employs high-speed microscopic imaging to measure mechanical properties of single cells at high throughput. We have an opportunity for an individual with a data science background to join our team and lead the machine learning development of our diagnostic algorithm for sepsis detection. We are looking for a data explorer who seeks to have a significant impact in the future of healthcare.
This person will lead the model development, explain data and incorporate physicians’ medical input to formulate/refine hypotheses, provide first prototypes of classifier schemas and datamining approaches, research/select and incorporate innovative and relevant approaches from the machine learning field, and iterate the process with input from advisors. The data scientist must be able to show prior experience with biological/medical dataset as well as proven skillsets in data science and machine learning algorithm development. A competitive salary and equity compensation package commensurate with experience is offered. You will report directly to the VP of Engineering.
Responsibilities
• Develop and implement machine learning algorithms to classify patient disease states as the basis for a clinical diagnostic test.
• Interface with the data analytics team, and be supported and advised on an as-needed basis by an experienced (20+ years) biostatistician with directly relevant experience.
• Develop hypotheses with clinicians, select appropriate models, create and refine features, prototype models, and implement the models at scale.
• Own end-to-end analytics - analyze and mine both structured and unstructured data.
• Work with a high-performing data science team to execute strategies and identify next steps and opportunities.
• Effectively communicate findings and insights from data to executives to drive data-driven product and business decisions.
Qualifications:
• 3-4 years of experience in medical or biotechnology related data science position
• Demonstrated core competency in understanding of biostatistics and bioinformatics
• At Least 3 Years of experience and knowledge of Python, R, Matlab, or other languages
• Familiarity with Hadoop, Spark, Hive and/or SQL, implementations on AWS, and have experience creating production quality code a plus.
Please send resume & cover letter.
