Job Description:
Senior Lecturer in Bioinformatics We are seeking an outstanding scientist with an interest in fungal pathogenesis and/or fungal immunology who has an international reputation in Bioinformatics. We are particularly interested in someone with their own independent research programme who is willing to collaborate extensively with other Centre Investigators. The recruited Senior Lecturer will be expected to integrate their own world-leading independent research programme within the AFG, and to establish productive collaborations with other AFG investigators. The appointee will be physically embedded within the MRC CMM, to maximise interactions within the group, but will also be associated with the Centre for Genome-Enabled Biology and Medicine (CGEBM at Aberdeen;https://www.abdn.ac.uk/genomics/), which has infrastructure and expertise in de novo sequencing, epigenomics, transcriptomics, metagenomics, SNP discovery, as well as whole genome and targeted re-sequencing of microbes and animals from tissues, single cells and ancient DNA samples. The post holder will help facilitate the research objectives of the MRC CMM through providing essential new capacity that will enable the utilisation of next generation sequencing and other emerging technologies. Salary will be at the appropriate point on Grade 8 (£49,772- £55,998 per annum), with placement according to qualifications and experience. A relocation and start up package is available for this post. This appointment will be made subject to the usual terms and conditions of employment of the University, with salary placement according to qualifications and experience.
