Additional Info:
As one of Europe's leading research universities, Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität (LMU) in Munich is committed to the highest international standards of excellence in research and teaching. Building on its more than 500-year-long tradition, it offers a broad spectrum that covers all areas of knowledge within its 18 Faculties, ranging from the humanities, law, economics and social sciences, to medicine and the natural sciences.

Research interests:

The goal of our research is to understand the molecular mechanisms underlying antigenic variation in Trypanosoma brucei, the causative agent of Nagana and sleeping sickness in Sub-Saharan Africa. Using numerous system-wide approaches (ribosome-profiling, high-resolution ChIP-seq, single cell RNA-seq, Hi-C) and state-of-the-art microscopy, we study how different chromatin structures are established at specific loci along the genome, how they are formed across the nucleus in 3 dimensions and how they affect gene expression.

The Siegel lab:

Starting September our group will be based at the newly built Biomedical Center (BMC) of the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich-Martinsried. We are funded by grants from the DFG, the Humboldt foundation and the ERC. Numerous in-house core facilities ensure access to state-of-the-art equipment.

How to apply:

Please send your application (motivation letter, CV, names of two referees and transcripts in one PDF) citing “17/05” in the subject line by email to n.siegel@lmu.de. The call will remain open until the position is filled.
