Senior/ Principal Research Officer – Epidemiology / Statistics

Job Description:

The Australian Institute of Tropical Health and Medicine (AITHM) is a newly-established health research institute within James Cook University that is funded by both state and federal governments. AITHM’s focus is on research in tropical health and medicine across a wide range of disciplines, with a particular focus on northern Australia, Papua New Guinea, and the Pacific.

Within AITHM, the Senior/Principal Research Fellow, Epidemiology/Statistics will lead and support a wide range of strategic multidisciplinary research projects in the field of tropical health and medicine, with a particular focus on infectious diseases and biological determinants of chronic disease. The incumbent will be responsible for building an independent research and publication profile and will also be expected to work collaboratively with others to obtain external funding for research and consultancy projects. The incumbent will have the opportunity to apply for significant internal discretionary research funding to support AITHM’s strategic research priorities.
