Job Description:
Do you want to help change the world? Society is beginning to see better outcomes when genomic information is applied to treatments for cancer and rare or neo-natal diseases. This is just the beginning and a better, deeper understanding of genomics has the potential to significantly enhance the future for you, your children, and the whole planet. Scientists are on the cusp of delivering on that potential, but data, computational power, and analysis are needed to make genomic information actionable.

Microsoft Health Genomics is working to accelerate the process of new discovery and use of actionable information. We are a passionate group within the Artificial Intelligence and Research division working in an area with rapid innovation. We are looking for people that work well on teams and get stuff done. Successful candidates will have a background in scientific computing, ideally in bioinformatics.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Drive core feature work and end-to-end customer scenarios
  • Work closely with partners, customers, and stakeholders to gather and prioritize requirements and ensure alignment on scenarios
  • Drive customer requirements into engineering specifications
  • Help identify target customers, value propositions and go-to-market strategies
  • Author product documentation, samples/demos and customer/field readiness material
  • Manage the compliance process
  • Work with engineering to improve the engineering lifecycle, e.g. task estimation, triage bars, performance standards
  • Work on special projects to further genomics research

Required Skills:

  • Strong interpersonal and communications skills, including the ability to foster positive relationships across divisional boundaries
  • Strong drive for results
  • Solid understanding and history building and deploying cloud-based systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to exercise direct and indirect influence
  • Demonstrated ability to engage with customers and partners to understand their business needs and priorities
  • Demonstrated ability to work with engineering to drive feature changes
  • Strong execution skills, including individual accountability and self-directedness
  • Basic understanding of compliance requirements, specifically HIPAA

Basic Qualifications:

  • The candidate will have 7+ years of software industry experience preferably driving large software engineering projects.
  • 5+ years of experience in a technical program management role
  • 5+ years of software development experience, preferably with cloud services (Azure, AWS, GCE) experience
  • BS or higher degree in Computer Science or related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • Strong track record of delivering services and/or shipping products.
    • Experience in computational biology or bioinformatics is a plus
