Job Description:
Senior Research Associate position will support the discovery and characterization of double strand-break reagents and methods for plant genome editing. Toward this end, the SRA will be expected to be a strong bench contributor to complex genetic, molecular, biochemical experimentation, research, and/or bioinformatics which will lead to process improvement of double strand-break directed genome editing in plants. The SRA will summarize and report data to support project development. The SRA will primarily be responsible for conducting bioinformatic, in vitro and/or in vivo assays in support of discovery projects. The SRA will function autonomously and be comfortable working within a team that is collaborative and engaging.

DUTY/RESPONSIBILITY

  • Works in conjunction with Research Scientist to establish project goals consistent with Double-Strand-Break technology improvements.
  • Computation scientist that provides high quality bioinformatics support necessary to meet established Genome Editing Initiative goals. Maintains proprietary informatic programs and generates new software to meet group needs.
  • And/or bench scientist that executes high quality genetic, biochemical and molecular biology experiments necessary to meet established Genome Editing Initiative goals. Interprets, summarizes data and develops new experiments based on results.
  • Implements and monitors safe working practices while adhering and promoting Core Values.
  • Maintains laboratory notebook and records experiments in a timely fashion in accordance with Laboratory Notebook compliance guidelines.
Job Qualifications:
  • Senior Research Associate – Minimum of Master degree in computational science, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field and 4-6 years of industry related experience or equivalent amounts of relevant education and experience.
Requires:
  • Motivated, self-starter with a strong work ethic and the ability to work in team settings. Strong organizational skills, ability to multi-task and meet timelines are critical requirements of this position.
  • Demonstrated experimentation in computational science, molecular biology and/or biochemistry.
  • Working knowledge of high throughput next generation DNA sequencing technologies.
  • Good communication and strong interpersonal skills.
